This is very unfortunate as something gundam series is good at is showcasing the awesomeness of the gundams but we never get that opportunity here. And it's like they don't even want you to see them because the camera is mostly zoomed out and the fight is happening all in flashes, at some point you can't even tell which is which.

Unfortunately you can barely see the gundams the director chose to keep them off camera for most of the movie and then in the end when they are fighting it's all happening in a flash, the gundam design actually looks horrible, possibly the worst gundams design so far, they took a very unusual route with the design making them look with big spikes and dragon like but it was poorly executed. I really enjoyed this movie but it has one major problem, the gundam fights and designs. The night scenes were amazing and having to see mecha fights from perspective of people on the ground was very cool and you really feel the scale of itĬlearly only for gundam fans if you're new to gundam you'll probably be scratching your head. World design is 10/10 and pretty decent writing and storyline. If you are a fan of Gundam Age (all 5 of them!), or have somehow watched all of Age despite hating it, this a must watch.
A new English dub was recorded for the western HD. Shame Gundam Age flopped hard, so we are left with an incomplete retelling. The series had was remastered in High-Definition for its 10th year anniversary, omitting two recap phases. Watching this anime, I believe that a three-movie remake can turn Gundam Age into one of the best mecha anime of all time. Thankfully, if you have watch enough Gundam and mecha, you can understand most of it with minimal explaination. It tell the story extremely well, but much information is left out. The animation is consistently good and it definitely tried to be different. That said, this Gundam entry is not without its good points. I dropped it early on and never put it on my list. Gundam Age is not very well-received by the Gundam fanbase.
